Book Launch SIXTEEN TREES OF DELFT by Alice Ladenburg

RADIUS is pleased to invite you to the launch and presentation of their first publication, SIXTEEN TREES OF DELFT, by artist Alice Ladenburg. Join us on Sunday the 16th of April 2023 for a series of presentations, followed by informal discussion and drinks reception. 

The publication focuses on sixteen trees in Delft, which are presented through geographical, botanical and historical information, archival photographs, observational writing, ink drawings, scientific data and images created using laser scans. Through these multiple representations, the user is encouraged to consider the important role that trees have within our cityscape and explore Delft in new ways.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES
⌀ Alice Ladenburg is an artist based in Rotterdam who gets inspiration from scientific methodologies for her creative process. She collects and presents the personal and subjective alongside the scientific and rational to portray a more nuanced understanding of our environment. Often collaborating with scientists working in forestry research and management, she utilises cutting-edge earth observation technologies to explore natural and urban environments from multiple perspectives.
⌀ Tako Postma is the Stadsbouwmeester of Delft, advising the municipality on the spatial planning and urban development of Delft. Within this, Postma stimulates initiatives that make the city more social, sustainable and beautiful.
⌀ Diny Tubbing is the Stadsecoloog of Delft, advising the municipality on policies and regulations concerning the urban nature present in Delft.
⌀ Niekolaas Johannes Lekkerkerk is the founding-director of RADIUS, center for contemporary art and ecology.
